Meet
the Black Widows
Katie
Mahoney is the founder of the Black Widow Agency. This sexy
ex-cop knows Cyber Crime, computer
forensics, and how to make a man’s drive hard. She’s busted drug lords,
broken identity theft rings,
knows the streets and has a clear disdain for any man who treats a
woman wrong. While working as an undercover narcotics
detective, Katie discovered her husband, a fellow cop, was having an
affair.
She blew her stack, but someone else blew her cover. Katie survived
being shot and never being
able to have children, but she can’t seem to survive a day without
scotch. Now in her late-thirties, she has an on-again,
off-again relationship with her ex-husband and struggles to keep her
shapely figure. Tenacious but fair, Katie is haunted by her shooting
and the mystery of who blew her cover.
Alexandria Axelrod
is the
twenty-something, somewhat
eccentric “Geek Goddess” of the Black Widow Agency. Rail thin and prone
to not eat, this former
computer hacker treads in the digital dark world and reigns cyber
supreme. Alexandria comes to the Black Widow Agency after being
arrested by Katie for hacking
into a major corporation, but Katie discovers that the funds Alexandria
pilfers are being diverted to
children’s charities. Sensing this modern day cyber Robin Hood has a
good heart, Katie eventually hires Alexandria on as
the Black Widow Agency’s lead computer forensics investigator.
Emotionless and somewhat
anti-social, Alexandria prefers the company of her pet tarantula,
“Divinity,” to people.
Margo
Norton is a
plus-sized African American woman with
a sassy mouth who can whip you with her sharp-edged tongue just as
quickly as
she can whip up one of her famous chocolate cakes. Katie
arrested Margo when Margo’s ex-husband set her up to deliver cocaine.
Katie believed Margo was innocent and risked
her police career by destroying the evidence in Margo’s case. Katie got
caught and was fired, but then
hired Margo on as the Black Widow Agency’s office manager. Margo takes
no prisoners, struggles with the
demands of being a single mom and being in a new relationship, but
remains
fiercely loyal to Katie for having kept her out of jail. She’s big,
she’s black and you’d damn well better
call her beautiful.
Jane Landers,
affectionately dubbed “Plain Jane,” takes
care of all things financial at the Black Widow Agency. At sixty, Jane
is the oldest of the Black Widows. Jane and
Katie met when Katie investigated the disappearance of Jane’s husband.
Katie was the one to break the awful news to
Jane that her husband took all their money and his new girlfriend to
Bermuda and wasn’t coming back. Jane is demure, petite, easily offended
and
prone to frequent hot flashes, but a financial whiz who will doggedly
sniff out
any errant transaction in the world of finances. Jane not only takes
care of the books, but
abides by them as well, which often leads to tension over Katie’s
unconventional investigative techniques.
